Puppy wellness:
You’ve gotten your new ball of energy with four legs, the collar, leash, toys and puppy food, what’s next? We here at Animal MD would love to help you on the road of puppy wellness. An examination should be scheduled as soon as possible to make sure your puppy is healthy. We will discuss a vaccine schedule, dietary recommendations and ways to socialize your puppy so your puppy can grow into a well mannered adult.
When your puppy comes to Animal MD, Dr. Bahns or Dr. Boller will do a full exam from the tip of your puppies nose to the end of his/her never stops wagging tail. They will, according to your puppy’s lifestyle, recommend certain vaccines and answer any questions you may have. Our technicians will then go over our puppy kit with you and let you know when your puppy will be due to come back for any examinations or vaccinations. It may seem like a long road to travel but at the end you will have a happy and healthy puppy that is ready for adulthood.
When you bring your puppy to Animal MD please:
- Have your puppy on a leash or in a carrier
- Bring a fresh fecal sample
- Bring any records you may have on your puppy
Canine Adult Wellness:
You’ve gotten past the puppy stage and now you have a well-mannered adult dog. Dogs are very social, so annual examinations and vaccinations are very important for your dog. If at your dog’s annual examination any abnormalities are found by Dr. Bahns or Dr. Boller, they would be addressed prior to any vaccinations. Again, early detection and treatment of any health issue is the key to a long and healthy life for your dog. Routine and annual examinations help to build a strong relationship between you, your pet and the staff of Animal M.D. This relationship will help us give you specific recommendations regarding vaccinations, lab work, diets and medications. Animal M.D. wants to help you have a happy and healthy dog for many years.

Canine Senior Wellness:
Have you noticed several grey hairs or that your dog seems to be slowing down a bit or are you noticing some strange changes in your dog’s behavior. It is time for a senior wellness examination. Dr. Bahns and Dr. Boller highly recommend having your senior pet come in for an examination every six months as changes can happen quickly in a senior pet. Upon examination, even if your older canine family member seems healthy, we may suggest some non-invasive tests and/or procedures. Early detection is the key to a longer, healthier life for your older canine pet. If the results of these tests come back with no problems, then we can use these results as a “baseline” which we can use if your older canine family member became ill in the future. If there are any abnormalities, then we get a plan started to help control the disease.
We send home a Senior Report Card with every six month check-up. This will have any recommendations that Dr Bahns or Dr Boller may have for your older canine family member.
So when your dog reaches those golden years, there is no need to worry. Together, we can continue to strive for a high quality of life, and with early detection, we can help make these golden years the most rewarding years.
