Surgery:
We know that finding out your pet needs surgery can be a bit scary for any pet owner. Anesthesia is now safer than ever and we monitor each and every patient from the time they are anesthetized until your pet is up and wagging their tail or letting us hear their cute meow. Pain management is a very important component in the care of our surgical patients. We provide all surgical patients pain medication but we also have the option of take home pain medication. We also have the option of pre-surgical lab work which can catch any underlying internal disease prior to anesthesia and fluid therapy which can keep your pet hydrated during the surgical procedure and help with a smoother recovery.
Animal MD schedules surgeries Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Admission time is 8:30am-9:00am and discharge time is usually between 4:00pm-5:00pm. Most surgical patients are able to go home on the same day. Please be sure to have around 10-15 minutes at admission time so we can answer any questions you may have and as we have several forms to go over before your pet can be admitted for surgery.
Most common surgeries we provide:
- Spay/Neuter
- Soft Tissue Surgery for Mass Removal
- Aural Hematoma
- We also provide:
- Gastrointestinal Surgery
- Urinary Tract Surgery
Dentistry:
Have you noticed a not so nice smell coming from your pet’s mouth? It could be time for a dental cleaning. Oral health is very important for your pet. Bacteria in the mouth can travel to the heart, liver and kidneys causing illness. Fractured teeth can cause pain in the mouth which can lead to your pet not wanting to eat.
Here at Animal M.D. we provide ultrasonic cleanings, polishing and fluoride treatment and extractions if needed. All dental procedures are done with general anesthesia so we offer optional services such as pre-surgical lab work and fluid therapy. All dental procedures go home with a dental kit and any dental with extractions will go home with antibiotics and pain medication.
In-house diagnostics:
Whether it’s pre-surgical lab work, a routine check of lab work for long term medication use or just a baseline, we can run many tests in-house with our Idexx lab station. If more extensive lab work needs to be run, we will send out your pets sample to Antech or Idexx to get a diagnosis for your pet. We also have the ability to take x-rays here at Animal MD.
